1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening? When we were being told with what our new assignment was going to be and we had a group discussion about different film genres and how the could be defined. This talk generated a fair amount of good ideas that I can use.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening? I did feel really distanced at all. However there was a bit of time when I was just doing my own thing by starting to generate some ideas into how I could obtain my primary and secondary research.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful? 4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling? I didn’t really find anything puzzling.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.) How different film genres can all become intertwined and make up all sorts of new genres, also how difficult it can be to actually decide if something fits into a certain genre or not.
1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
I felt most engaged when we were talking about the new brief and discussing different types of genre, and all questions surrounding it, as a group. Was a great way to start the day and really got my brain into gear!
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
I felt most distanced when I came to write my first post in my reflective learning journal, I felt like I had made a good start but after reading through the documents posted on the blog again felt like I had missed the point completely.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
I found it most helpful when Paul went through reflective learning journal with me again as I was worried that my initial post wasn’t correct and would leave me behind when it came to handing in my work.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
I found the process of reflective learning most puzzling until it was explained again and in more depth to me as I’ve never done anything like it before.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
I was most surprised about how much I began to think about whether there was such thing as specific genres or not. I feel like the discussions we had this morning really got me thinking about whether it’s possible to put films into a specific category, and if it is, how and who does it. Feel like I have lots of ideas for my research and essays on it because of the discussion we had this morning.
